Tucked along the quiet banks of the Perak River, Masjid Tuminah Hamidi is more than just a mosque — it’s a masterpiece of modern Islamic architecture and a heartfelt tribute to heritage in Bagan Datuk, Perak.
Officially opened in March 2025 by the Sultan of Perak, this floating mosque stands as a stunning centerpiece of the district. Built over the river’s edge, its reflection dances on the water during sunrise and sunset, making it a photographer’s dream and a peaceful sanctuary for visitors and worshippers alike.
The mosque is named in honor of Allahyarhamah Tuminah Abdul Jalil and Allahyarham Raden Hamidi Abdul Fatah, the parents of local-born politician Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who spearheaded the project through his family foundation, Yayasan Al-Falah. Completed at a cost of RM53 million, the mosque was designed not just as a place of prayer, but as a community and cultural landmark.

Inside, you’ll find elegant Islamic calligraphy, high vaulted ceilings, and botanical motifs — inspired by local flora like coconut blossoms and mangosteen flowers — rendered in cool shades of blue and white. The interior feels both majestic and serene, comfortably hosting up to 5,000 worshippers. Facilities include a grand prayer hall, multipurpose rooms, a gallery, and beautiful outdoor plazas perfect for reflection.
Whether you're exploring religious heritage, admiring architecture, or just seeking a quiet place to unwind beside the river, Masjid Tuminah Hamidi is a must-visit stop on any trip to Bagan Datuk. It’s a place where faith, family, and local pride converge, making it one of the most meaningful and visually captivating mosques in Malaysia today.
